Black & Blue Fingerless Gloves

Making a fitted glove is much more specific to the person it is for than hats. Hats are stretchy and heads and much more close related in size. Easy. Gloves are a bane. Hard to scale up and down. You pretty much need to measure the wrist just below the hand, and the widest part of the hand just below the fingers (not including the thumb here) and work out your gauge accordingly. I’ve seen plenty of patterns for “wrist warmers” that are like this but gaping open at least 3 inches where the thumb comes out. This means they are simply a tube with a hole in the side. This seems like a cheat, and they are really too drafty to be worth wearing. (At least so I’m told by three people I gave such things to.) Here is the pattern I made for these gloves. I hope it is useful to others.

Yarn: royal blue microspun, and black acrylic (worsted weight).
Hook: H/5 mm
