Welcome! This is my crochet site. It's mostly for my own reference, but if others find it interesting and useful that's good too. ~Snow

Rose Bun Cover

Yarn: Here’s something to do with a scrap of yarn left over from a hat. I used some dusty rose wool-ease.
Hook: G/4.25 mm

ch 4, join to form ring
Row 1: ch 1, 6 sc in ring, join to first st with sl st. (6 sts)
Row 2: ch 4, (sl st in next st, ch 3) 6 times, join to first st with sl st.
Row 3: ch 1, (sc in ch 3 sp, ch 4) 6 times, join to first st with sl st.
Row 4: ch 1, 5 sc in ea ch 4 sp around, join to first st with sl st. (30 sc)

Row 5: ch 2, hdc in next st, and ea sc around, join to first st with sl st. (30 sts)
Row 6: ch 3, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, [(dc in next st) 2 times, 2 dc in next st] repeat around to end, join to first st with sl st. (40 sts)
Row 7: ch 3, dc in next st, and ea st around to end, join with sl st to first st. (40 sts)
Row 8: ch 3, (dc in next st) 7 times, 2 dc in next st, [(dc in next st) 8 times, 2 dc in next st] 3 times, (dc in next st) 4 times, 2 dc in last st, join to first st with sl st. (46 sts)
Row 9: ch 3, dc in next st and ea st to end, join to first st with sl st. (46 sts)
Row 10: ch 4, sk next st, (dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st) repeat around, join to first st with sl st. (23 dc, 23 ch 1 sps)
Row 11: sl st into next ch 1 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 3, (sk next ch 1 sp, sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 3) 11 times, join to first sc with sl st. (12 sc, 12 ch 3 sps).
Cut yarn and hide tail.

Finish: Take a 7-8″ length of round elastic cord (black) and weave it back and forth thru the last row, and knot it on the inside. Unstretched this is about a 2.5″ circle. Fully stretched it’s still 8″ or more.

I find that this by itself does not hold my hair in a bun. I still put up the bun like normal and secure it with two large plastic things that look like huge bobby pins. Then I put the bun cover over that. It’s pretty.
